Building Functional Communication Skills
Speech Articulation Therapy

After careful evaluation of your child's speech, an individualized treatment plan will be provided to improve speech articulation and phonological development. Family involvement and home practice is encouraged to promote carryover and expedite improvement. A variety of methods and techniques including multi-modality approaches are used when necessary.
Functional Communication Therapy

After careful evaluation of your child's skills in addition to collaboration with you as a caregiver, functional communication goals will be created. Hands on, engaging activities are used to promote participation. For nonverbal or pre-verbal children, total communication approaches are used to encourage functional use of language. For older students, your child's interests and activities are used in therapy as much as possible to improve expressive and receptive language skills. Suggestions for encouraging language development will be provided to caregivers.
Speech and Language Evalution

A formal speech and language evaluation should be completed to determine an appropriate and individualized treatment plan. After consulting with you and reviewing your child's case history, assessment tools including rating scales, informal assessment, and/or standardized testing will be completed to determine your child's communicative strengths and needs. A formal evaluation may not be needed if your child has had an evaluation completed within the last 12 months.
